I like building things that move. Most of my engineering time outside class goes into designing things and figuring out how to make them. Right now that's a planetary gearbox for a robotics actuator. I've also spent too much time wrenching on things, which is how I ended up building my own offroad hitch receiver and then analyzing it when it flexed a little too much for comfort. That project started because I needed a cheap way to carry bikes on logging roads without destroying them.

On co-ops I've designed parts for Shockwave Motorsports stock cars, a low-cost PEM install tool, and modifications to OTS NEMA 4 electrical enclosures. On the enclosure project I had to figure out how to get 200 of them modified with last-minute sprint changes, so I walked down the street and discussed how we could make this happen with local shops.

Outside of engineering I take on too many hobbies. Mountain biking, motorcycles, camping, fishing, 4x4ing, snowboarding and more.
