The big Big Sur park with no scenic drive-in, so the crowds thin the second you're out of the parking lot and across the river.
01Why it's worth it
Everything here is walk-in. You park and cross a footbridge over the Big Sur River to reach the beach and the bluff trails, and that small barrier is enough to keep it quieter than its famous neighbors. You get ocean bluffs, a lagoon, raptors and the odd condor overhead, and bobcats on the trails. There's a walk-in campground for the same reason. It's less a single sight than a place to spend an unhurried half day actually moving through the landscape instead of photographing it from a pullout.
02How to experience it
The beach and Bluffs Trail loop is the move. Check whether the seasonal footbridge is in: it's usually up in summer and pulled for winter high water, when you'll ford the river or take a longer way around.

The wildlife does the selling: "Bobcat on the Bluffs Trail at Andrew Molera. A very confident bobcat, I think he just wanted us to know that all the rabbits on this trail belonged to him."
